So you're interested in membership at Harvest? That's great! We welcome you and are excited whenever there is an expressed interest in one becoming a part of our wonderful family of believers.

Harvest Church Plainfield is set in an atmosphere of genuine love. You can feel it whenever and wherever you encounter our church, which you may have already experienced. You will find a diverse people from all walks of life, varying levels of Christian maturity and from every expression of Christianity here.

You will find this to be an ideal church If you are interested in being challenged to grow in the things of God, and want to put your hands to ministry in a meaningful way.

We take membership seriously and have never approached it casually. As God is a God of covenant, we are a church of covenant.  Meaning, it is by agreement that we are joined together with the understanding that we all share in the responsibility of making Harvest a church that glorifies God.  We require that each member commit to observing and living out the Word of God as a disciple of Christ and citizen of God's kingdom. Members are expected to freely give their time, talent and treasure to the work of  the Lord.

FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions About Membership

Why aren't the doors of the church opened on Sundays?
We prefer that those who have an interest in Harvest sit a while and get to really know the mission and the ministry. This will ensure candidates are making an intelligent decision and not an emotional one. Orientation classes are held periodically for candidates seeking membership.

When are membership orientation classes held?

Classed are conducted several times a year. The days and times of classes vary. Look for postings on this page or the eBulletin for the schedule.

How many classes are there?

There are generally about 8 classes

How do I sign up for the orientation classes?
New member classes are now in session, please check back for next class registration.

What kind of church is Harvest?
We believe there is only one church with varying expressions. Therefore we are interdenominational, which means we have a representation of most every expression of Christianity, and we welcome this ideal. Our membership reflects a beautiful mosaic of Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, Pentecostal, Methodist and a variety of other traditions.  We readily embrace God's truth and virtue that can be found in them all.

Are all members required to attend the classes?

Yes, anyone 18 years of age and older is required to complete the orientation process. Children that turn 18 are required to take the classes as well.

What will I learn in Orientation?

  • An introduction to the essential and foundational theology of Harvest
  • Our mission and vision
  • What you are agreeing to as potential covenant members
  • The governmental and business structure of Harvest Church Plainfield

Class participation does require a commitment as there will be reading, homework, and every candidate is expected to be contributors to the classes. Participants will be required to bring a bible, pen and note pad. Harvest primarily uses the New King James Version and The Message bibles.
